Bajra Gond Ladoo

Bajra Gond Ladoo is a mouth-watering, gluten free Indian sweet especially prepared during winters. These nutritious and healthy ladoos are prepared with Bajra (pearl millet), Gond (edible gum) and jaggery.

Bajra, also called Pearl Millet in English is a quintessential Part of Indian cuisine especially in the North India. It is especially consumed during winters because of its warm potency, high fibre and high nutrient content which gives the body ample nourishment to sustain the cold weather. Bajra is nutritionally dense and rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants like iron, B complex vitamins, fibre and list goes on.

Gond or Edible gum is odourless, tasteless and a water-soluble mixture obtained from the sap of the plant and then dried. As per Ayurveda, gond is known to boost stamina and health, helping one keep away from falling sick due to cold and cough. It also is known to treat low Vitamin D levels in the body. As the ladoos help lubricate the joints, they are extremely powerful to reduce back pain as well as other joint pains. The properties in gond make it a go-to source for calcium and protein which are needed to develop and maintain strong bones.

This sphere-shaped sweet delight is made from bajra flour, gond, ghee and jaggery. Most Indian households prepare a version of this ladoo in winters. I love the versatility of this ladoo as it can be eaten cold or warm.
